Refurbished Laptops With Wireless

Published by , on Mar 30 2012, in the categories: parts

Nowadays, it's a non-sense to purchase a laptop, which doesn't include a wireless card. The small piece helps connect to internet on the run, so the old saying that communication is the key becomes reality with this type of laptop.

Luckily for you, the majority of laptops launched in the last decade include a wireless card. If you are decided to buy a refurbished item able to connect to internet via wireless, you won't spend more than $200 or even $300. This is a normal situation, but taking account the brand itself and global performance of that item, the cost can even touch the level of $400.

I think that the best place for your research would be eBay, since the thousands of refurbished laptops promoted there start from $100-$130. For instance, one of the most affordable laptops this week is Dell Latitude D610 ($140, free shipping), including that marvelous wireless card, plus an Intel Centrino processor, 512MB RAM module, 20GB HDD, CD drive, 14.1-inch display and Windows XP Home Edition. I bet that you will say that such an old and slow laptop won't ever connect to external internet. On the other hand, the seller assures you its built-in wireless card will make it possible: you can log to your home wireless network or you can connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot worldwide. Test it and tell us, whether it worked or not!

If I have my doubts concerning the first model, I have nothing to say against Dell Latitude D620, one of the most reliable refurbished series designed by Dell. This model is estimated at $220 and runs an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR2, 60GB HDD, DVD drive, internal wireless and Wi-Fi, 14.1-inch display and Windows 7 Home Premium. I didn't understand very well why the seller wanted so bad to install a version of Windows 7 on this type of notebook, when Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional would have been sufficient, but it includes an improved processor and somehow a bigger storage capacity, so it will help you better to do your work.

In the end, I present the father of contemporary Asus notebooks, if you allow me: Asus A3000 estimated at $250, running an Intel Centrino processor, 512MB RAM module, 60GB HDD, Intel GMA graphics, CD/DVD drive, 15.1-inch display, fax/modem/wireless LAN and Windows XP Professional. Definitely, its wireless card can perform more than a simple connection to the internet.

Refurbished Laptops Under 200 With Xp

Published by , on Mar 30 2012, in the categories: operating system

If you are searching for a cheap refurbished laptop able to connect via wireless, inevitably you will come across items running a version of Windows XP, they are linked. This combination will cost you maximum $200 or even less, although I recommend you keep in mind models over $200, since they are based on better processors and larger storage capacity.

Let's return to eBay and see what are the results generated by your search. One of the cheapest models, I dare to say the cheapest ever, is Dell Inspiron 2650 ($80), including an Intel Pentium IV processor, 512MB RAM module, 30GB HDD, CD drive, Wi-Fi, 15-inch display and Windows XP Home Edition. You can't play HD games and long movies on it, but it's reliable for a student doing his/her projects, of course with a little help: an external hard drive.

Refurbished Laptops Under 200 With Xp (Source: images02.olx.com)

At the same price and quite similar as configuration, you can purchase the old Gateway M460E M460, including an Intel Celeron processor, 256MB RAM module, 20GB HDD 15.1-inch display and Windows XP Professional. Indeed, it's a strange combination: a better operating system on a reduced storage capacity, but it seems it works, so take it in account for your shopping chart.

A little bit more expensive, but including more features: it's Dell Latitude D600, a refurbished model estimated at $135, running an Intel Pentium M processor, 512MB RAM module, 20GB HDD, DVD drive, VGA output, 14.1-inch display and Windows XP Professional.

As first sight, it seems that only Dell offers the cheapest refurbished models performing on Windows XP series, in fact, if you search deeper on eBay, you will come across old HP models matching your criteria, such as HP Pavilion ZD7000 ($240) with an Intel Pentium IV processor, 1.255GB RAM module, 80GB HDD, DVD drive, 17-inch display and Windows XP Home Edition.  Definitely, it's a leap of evolution, comparing with the previous models and the price is quite accessible. Besides the initial hard drive will store your documents for 6 months, let's say and you won't have to rush buying an external hard drive or changing the current one. Although the display included makes you think of a gaming laptop, it's better not to dream that you can surpass the level of Facebook games.

Refurbished Mitsubishi Laptop

Published by , on Mar 29 2012, in the categories: Refurbished Computers

From cars to IT products, there is one small leap to be made and it seems that Mitsubishi tried its luck. If it failed or succeeded somehow, it's up to you to decided, I can only offer the information that you need for your analyze.

It's a total mystery, when the first Mitsubishi appeared on the market, since I didn't find a clear evidence of the official release, but from the related videos I can estimated that at the beginning of '90 or even between '95-'97, Mitsubishi laptops were there. Today, you can find only refurbished versions, which makes me think that something went wrong. Probably there were too many Asian manufacturers trying to conquer the hearts of computer users, maybe Mitsubishi laptops were too expensive or maybe they weren't attractive enough to keep up with similar rivals.

It doesn't really matter which was the main flaw, if you are interested in purchasing a refurbished laptop designed by Mitsubishi. The big problem is to find the item, which you seek for, and the necessary parts needed for repairing.

Refurbished Mitsubishi Laptop (Source: erplw.com)

For instance, I have to inform you that you can find replacement batteries on battery-of-laptop.com, rated at $60-$70. For chargers, visit easy-battery.com, where you can find a suitable part for the two series launched by Mitsubishi: Apricot Note GX and Apricot Note GX/2. For hardware parts, such as a floppy drive, visit codemicro.com, where this part is estimated at $50. Once again, I really doubt that you will end by buying a notebook, that doesn't even support a classical CD drive.

I think it's essential to know whether you can find parts or not for a refurbished item, before purchasing it. You will say that's naturally to find them, when they break down, but for the old models, one recurring problem appears: there are no parts available or if there are any, they are too expensive, so you start thinking or purchasing another notebook rather than investing in your old one.

Refurbished Laptops Sony

You can love them or you can hate them, but you can never pass over Sony Vaio laptops. If it happens to come across refurbished Sony Saio items, I bet you will start thinking about purchasing one of them, although you are a loyal fan to a rival brand. As far as I can remember, Sony was the first manufacturer that played all its cards on ergonomically keyboards for netbooks and it won: almost all the other producers borrowed and improved this idea.

Besides this easy and comfortable writing feature, Sony Vaio laptops are eye-catching. If you don't remember where you have seen the stylish laptop, shining in the daylight, it's James Bond, handling one… No doubt, Sony gained a huge popularity during the last years, probably that's why prices are still so high, even if we talk about refurbished models. One thing is sure: any businessman or passionate gamer in this world would give anything to purchase one, since it's reliable and armed with a long lasting battery. Perhaps, during the years to come, Sony will attack the section of rugged laptops, I bet it will sell like hot cakes this kind of advanced business items.

If I were to suggest you something about your mission dedicated to finding the suitable Sony Vaio laptop, I would definitely advised you not to purchase an old configuration such as that included in Sony Vaio PCG-K315M (Intel Pentium M processor, 512MB RAM module, 40GB HDD, DVD drive, 15.3-inch display and Windows XP Home Edition). Although is extremely attractive as price (only £229), this model won't perform more than an old Dell Latitude D600 series, so you will soon start regretting that you spent on your money on it.

NV53A24U? If these numbers don't tell you anything, let me introduce Gateway NV53A24U to you, a 15.6-inch notebook promising to change your opinion about this type of gadgets. You are totally right to ask what makes this notebook so special. If you analyze its configuration as seen on microcenter.com, you will draw the conclusion that you have in front of you a reliable home use and entertainment gadget.

Probably, you will have some objections related to the storage capacity, to be made, since 320GB SATA isn't sufficient for all your games and media contents, but you can easily solve out this disadvantage, by adding an external hard drive. Refurbished versions of this model have another important flaw, a battery lasting for 4h, as you can notice from newegg.com, as consequence a replacement battery is also required.

All in all, almost all the models included in this series will follow this pattern: an AMD Athlon II P320 dual-core processor, 4GB DDR3, 320GB SATA, ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics, multimedia card reader, 15.6-inch HD display and Windows 7 Home Premium. The model available on microcenter.com was enhanced with a velvet blue design, perfect for both ladies and men, but you can find other colorful covers for this notebook.

If you search it on Amazon, hurry, there is one item available, more precisely it's about an used version estimated at $300. This blue notebook runs an AMD Athlon II X2 P320 dual-core processor and DVD rewriter, while the rest of specifications rest the same.

Looking for replacement parts?! I think the screen will suffer the worst damage, so take in account laptopscreen.com, where a screen for Gateway NV53A24U is estimated at $60.

Refurbished Nt 4.0 Laptop

Published by , on Mar 28 2012, in the categories: operating system

From our previous articles, you could find out that Windows NT are a reliable and comfortable solution for your business. The good news is that this workstation can run even on older laptops, although it won't be that efficient as it would be on a contemporary laptop.

For instance, if you own an old IBM Thinkpad T23, it will support Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or even Windows 2000. Unfortunately you can't upgrade the global configuration (Intel Pentium M processor, 256MB Ram module, 30GB HDD and 14.1-inch display), so it will quite hard to maintain a permanent feedback between your laptop and the other computers belonging to your company. Editors recommend trying the same experiment on ThinkPad X30, X31 and X32 series, although I doubt that you will obtain better results.

Refurbished Nt 4.0 Laptop (Source: thmall.com)

Refurbished Nt 4.0 Laptop (Source: thmall.com)

More adequate for NT 4.0 is a dual-core laptop, such as the affordable Dell Latitude D620 ($190), available as refurbished version on Amazon. Its configuration based on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR2, 80GB HDD and internal wireless card will help you connect and share easily all the important issues for your business.

Probably, more ideas will come to you, if you visit an online store, such I chose at random overstock.com. If you select a few models of the items included in the refurbished heading, either it's a laptop or a computer, I bet you will make NT 4.0 run like Windows 7 Home Premium, since it's one of the most popular operating systems today.

If I were to make an upgrade with Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0, I would try it on HP DC5800 MT (EUR 328) and Acer Aspire MS2310 (EUR 401), since they are the cheapest items available at this moment. The first one is a desktop computer based on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB DDR2, 750GB SATA and Intel GMA 3100 graphics, while the rest one is a classical notebook, including an AMD Phenom II X4 N970 quad-core processor, 4GB DDR3, 500GB SATA, ATI Radeon HD 6470M graphics, HDMI output and 17.3-inch display.

Refurbished Older Laptops + Cheap + Warranties

Published by , on Mar 27 2012, in the categories: Refurbished Computers

Whenever you plan to purchase a refurbished laptop, you should take in account its flaws and the warranty offered. Despite the cheap prices stated, one thing is sure: any scratch will reduce the cost, but will increase the chance to receive a limited warranty, unless it's about an item with no warranty after all.

I can understand that sometimes one can find himself/herself in a very difficult financial context, but I strongly recommend you not to purchase a product with no warranty, try at least to obtain 30 days of testing. Whenever you take the chance of buying a laptop without a minimal warranty, you risk repairing that item on your money, because there is no paper stating that the seller should take care of any flaw registered during the warranty period.

In order to prove my theory (although it's quite a common practice), I propose you to make an experiment on lancs-it.co.uk, an online store chosen at random. Here, the cheapest refurbished product is Toshiba Satellite S1800-344S estimated at £90. Don't think of a hot deal, since this 14-inch notebook is quite old and doesn't receive any warranty at all. Here is the full configuration, in order to convince yourself: Intel Celeron processor, 512MB RAM module, 15GB HDD, floppy drive and CD-ROM, Wi-Fi and Windows XP Home Edition.

Refurbished Laptops With Vista

Published by , on Mar 26 2012, in the categories: operating system

Refurbished laptops based on Windows Vista can be sometimes even cheaper than the similar items running XP series. Although it sounds paradoxically, since Windows XP is older and implicitly, considered to be surpassed by Vista, an important percentage of users worldwide still prefers the reliable XP instead of the good-looking Vista.

For the cheapest refurbished laptops, you can start considering your options with eBay, since the price for a dual-core laptop starts from $200. One thing is sure about Vista, it won't boot on a single-core processor with 40GB-60GB storage capacity, while XP it can handle any type of configuration, even one based on a quad-core processor, of course with some inherent errors.

One of the cheapest solutions for your limited budget could be refurbished HP 6910p ($200), including an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR2, 120GB HDD, Intel GMA graphics, CD/DVD drive, Wi-Fi, 14.1-inch display and Windows Vista Business.  It can be a reliable notebook for a student, with a small upgrade of storage capacity, unfortunately the video card won't help you play a HD game.

Dell D630 receives a new touch, thanks to Vista. For $250, you will be glad to handle a notebook based on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR3, 250GB SATA, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, 14-inch display and Windows Vista Business. I wouldn't say it's quite a business tool, but it can help you develop your local business as first step, next you will need a more powerful and portable model.

Another affordable notebook running an Intel Core 2 Duo processor is Lenovo ThinkPad T61 estimated at $208 and surprisingly to you, is based on Windows Vista Home Basic edition. This 14.1-inch notebook is a total wonder, if you ask yourself how in the world a 2GB DDR2 RAM module can be put next to 40GB HDD? It's not an error of typing, you have read it well: 40GB HDD, not even 140GB HDD. No doubt, you can change the hard drive and I definitely recommend you to do it, but it sounds strange just to think about it. This ThinkPad T61 hasn't finished its surprises! Probably you would have expected to come across a video card designed by Intel… wrong! If you are decided to purchase it, you will use a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M video card for your games, it's not very advanced, but it's definitely more reliable for games than Intel GMA for instance.
